Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
Achieved my Stage 1 complete and I’m currently working towards my Stage 2 lunge & care exam which I am looking to sit end of summer. Looking for opportunities to work towards my stage 2 ride due to lack of opportunity in south wales. Volunteered at riding schools in teenage years, tacking up and preparing for lessons, also ensuring horses had water and forage throughout the day.
Current job in retail , I can show customer service skills, money handling skills and I’m also able to work alone after following instruction. I’m organised with book keeping and daily logs such as deliveries and temperatures. I’m on time to work and can get jobs done by shift end. I’ve also held key holding roles. I have been in this job for over 6 years. These skills can be transferred to yard work, as I am happy to work as a team or take sole responsibility, I can also complete tasks in a timely manor and organise paperwork for vet visits and passports.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
im confident with handling a variety of horses on the ground, as I like horses to have respect and can correctly discipline. Im happy to ride a variety of horses, but particularly enjoy schooling horses and seeing improvement.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I enjoy seeing improvement in wellbeing and training. I take great pride in seeing horses progress in their training such as moving up levels in dressage. I also enjoy learning and strive to be the best I can be.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I’d like to improve my turnout, specifically plaiting, trimming and clipping, as this is something I’ve not had much opportunity to part take in. I’d also like to gain some confidence with riding competition type horses
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
im reliable, hard working and take pride in horse welfare. I’ve remained in the same job for a long period of time and im happy to carry on and keep improving. I can take criticism and will always keep trying until I get something right. I also want to gain valuable experience from my job.
