Experience with Horses

Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.

I started my career as an apprentice groom and then progressed to competition groom where I had the opportunity to handle a variety of horses. During my time as competition groom I had the chance to back my first youngster, get first hand competition experience, compete to a low level, learn to clip, plait, and bandage. I was then freelance for a year where I was able to work with PSG level competition horses as well a riding, feeding and handling them on a regular basis. I also kept the yard clean and was left sole charge. I then moved to working retraining ex race horses where I had the opportunity to ride, long rein, lunge, do basic ground work, feed, maintain yard to a high standard and field maintenance.

Key Skills

What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc

I thrive in a hands on job and need to be learning constantly. I love learning and some of my strengths are turnout plating, bathing, grooming, and stud holes. I also thrive in a team although I am comfortable and used to working on my own.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

Seeing young horses progress and enjoy their job.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I am always looking to improve my riding a general skill

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I pride myself on being a hard worker and am keen to learn
