N/A

• Do you have any ongoing commitments?

I am currently working weekends and a local Stud farm but it is very flexible.

• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?

I am away the 25th of June to 3rd of July and then the 9th to the 16th of July but after that I have no more plans.

Experience with Horses

Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.

I have grown up with ponies until around the age of 10 and after that I took a few years off and then continued learning to ride at local riding schools. I then started volunteering at the riding school every Saturday for at least 3 years if not more. After I finished Grammar School I went to Bishop Burton College and studied Equine Management Level 3 1080. During my time at Bishop I had to complete 300 hours of work experience over both years. During my first year I went to the Stud farm for 3 weeks and then from there was able to get a summer job and I worked there for the remainder of the stud season and then have recently started again working on the weekends the work there includes mucking out the foaling beds and bringing horses in and out for any medication. This also includes handling mares with foals at foot and holding the mare for the stallion for natural cover. During the second year I completed some of my work experience in a feed shop where I had to help with stock and helping customers with their orders. At the end of my time at Bishop we have to complete a Stock Skills day where we gain points from the preparation leading up to the even and also gain points for presentation on the day in the in-hand show. I came first in my class and then won the grooms award as I did the most preparation leading up to the event. All of this together therefore made me the overall equine champion which I am extremely proud of and worked hard for months to achieve.

Key Skills

What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc

I am particularly good at grooming and bathing, especially breeds like the Gypsy Cob which I worked with to achieve overall champion at Stock Skills. I can work alone but prefer to work with others and I have experience handling young horses and foals.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

I enjoy just being around them and working with them and handling them, especially with the foals and watching them grow up and knowing that i contributed to the horse that they will become is really rewarding for me.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I have gained a lot of confidence over these 2 years at Bishop but I can always gain more and have more faith in myself and be more outgoing

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I think they should consider me because I care about what I do and I want to work to the best standard that I can and I am always looking to learn more and take in as much information as I possibly can. I love working with horses or any animals for that matter and I can offer a calm steady presence and I don’t panic in difficult situations.
