Future Requirements

• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?

I would like to work ideally in an eventing setting but would be willing to do any roles. Happy to work sole charge or part of a team.

• Do you need accommodation?

I currently live in Highworth so don’t need accomodation.

• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?

No requirement to brig animals with me.

• Do you have any ongoing commitments?

I am at university studying BSc(hons) Agriculture with livestock, modules completed that are relevant include, forage crops, livestock nutrition, soil and grassland and farm management then looking to do an Equine degree or masters are that. I am currently going into my fourth year of a five year part time degree. I chose Agriculture as most of the farms that I have worked on have also had other animals too, so to be able to be flexible and help across the farm. I also have experience with cattle, a season lambing and previously offered dog care and house sitting services, so would be willing to do this again.

I also have a HND in Advanced Business studies and ten years office administration experience, and a Level 3 certificate in dog care and behaviour. I previously also offered dog walking and house sitting services too.

I am a member of the British Grooms Association and would be happy to get insurance.

• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?

No

Experience with Horses

Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.

South Cerney Riding School from aged 15-21 around college all aspects of yard work on a 60 horse riding school yard, looking after elderly or retired horses, all daily requirements and assisting with lessons including RDA and taking out hacks, office admin including taking the riding school phone, payments and booking in lessons. This also included riding horses that were more difficult and were not used much in lessons and producing young horses for the riding school.

I have worked on a freelance self employed basis for over ten years since college, and officially set up my own business in 2011.

Since then I have worked at multiple venues, including studs, livery yards and worked for private owners.

This includes:

Hunt yards – preparing horses except plaiting and all aspects of stable duties and care, tack cleaning and aftercare of horses days after hunting.

AP Eventing – Working sole charge and part of a team caring for 7 horses, this was on a full time basis and did include some riding.

Wickstead Farm Equestrian – Working as part of the stable team looking after the riding school and share care horses carrying out all stable duties and aspects of care, also livery horses when required by owners.

Candy King in Blunsdon – thoroughbred stud four years work, sole charge looking after three stallions and mares, providing all aspects of care, including daily riding of one stallion and backing and working with the other two.

Private owners at different livery yards, working with horses that had napping issues or needed work to be safer for children.

Ad-hoc event assistance for different eventers, doing change of horse.

Voluntary work stewarding for Horse-Events and Cotswold cup and dressage writing

Key Skills

What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc

I enjoy working sole charge, I plan to work on my plaiting and clipping at Hartpury in the future but I keep the yard immaculate and welfare is my utmost priority. I have a passion for eventing so enjoy working in that area

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

I have loved horses since a young age and they have been my passion, at the moment I don’t have my own due to university commitments.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I would like to improve my plaiting and clipping skills

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I am reliable and at 41 have years of experience with horses. I have also completed an Equine Health Management online level 5 course which covers first aid and emergency treatment.
