Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
I have worked at a variety of polo, racing, eventing, and show jumping yards, both in England and abroad. I’ve done several polo seasons, including in NZ and USA. I’m confident in all yard duties, horse care and management, and ride to a good standard (previously competed to BE100/played polo at university tournaments).
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
Happy and confident working alone and in a team, in the past I have had sole charge jobs as well as working alongside other grooms/riders. Strong polo turnout skills- clipping, bandaging, tails. Quick with tack changes between chukkas. I have worked in racing previously, where I had to handle and ride young horses, and have also worked with stallions in the past. A quiet and conscientious rider and groom with strong attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
Getting to know the ponies I work with and care for. And being outside everyday.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
My plaiting skills- I have always plaited my own horses for eventing and hunting, but would like to practise more to become quicker.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I’m a motivated and conscientious worker who always prioritises horse welfare. I have a lot of experience working in different yards, so am quick to pick up new routines and horses individual needs. A reliable worker who always turns up on time, and is ready to work hard outside in all weathers.
