• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?

I would like to develop my career in riding and caring for horses. I have ridden horses all my life and definitely would say horses are my passion, as I am 18 and have recently come out of education I would like to go into to horse care and riding full time, ideally a live in position, where i can turn my passion into a career. I would ideally like to work at a yard which hunts as hunting is my main passion, I would also be able to have a role which includes other roles like animal care and partime child care.

Experience with Horses

I currently have a part-time job working at a 16-horse yard where my duties are turning out, feeding, mucking out, poo picking and maintaining a clean and tidy yard. However most of my experience comes from growing up with horses on a family yard with 5-8 horses, this is given me experience riding a range of horses and ponies with different temperaments and ablities meaning I am confident riding a range of different horses. I have also gained experience riding in a range of different displines including dressage, cross-country and show jumping as well as schooling horses and completing many seasons out hunting on my own horses or other people. As well as lots of experience with riding I also  have a lifetime of experience caring and being responsible for horses meaning I know how to properly care for horses at a high standard making sure their needs are fully met.

 

Key Skills

What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc

I am very flexible with working independently or in a team, I would say my key skills are riding a range of horses and being able to manage a range of different temperaments and abilities, having good organisation skills meaning my tasks are always completed on time and to a high standard whether that is turning out horses for a competition or ordering supplies for the yard or just basic day to day jobs like mucking out or cleaning tack. I also can care for other animals, my experience including caring for dogs, cats and chickens.

 

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

I love working with horses because it means I can mix my passion with my career. I have always loved horses and how you get to build relations with them as well as how every horse is unique. Working with horses and being able to build strong relations with the horses I am caring for as well as the people I am working for and with would be an ultimate dream

 

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

As I am new to turning horse care and riding into my career I would like to just continue to develop my skills and grow my experience riding and caring for different horses.

 

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I am very passionate about horses and treat every one like my own, my work standard is always high and I take pride and completing everything I do to the highest standard. I am hardworking and also very willing to learn new things which can help me develop in my career. I I am also very flexible and ideally would like a live in position meaning i can commit to full dedication at my job.
