Experience with Horses

Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.

I’ve been working with horses for over 10 years. In this time I have done an apprenticeship, worked in eventing, show jumping and a livery yard. In the summers since 2022 I have been travelling to the US to work at a summer camp with a large equestrian program. In 2025, I returned for an 18 month contract as the Equestrian Manager running the whole equine side. Whilst this job varies through the season, at its peak I am in charge of 15 staff members, 80 horses and over 100 children whilst they are at the barn learning to ride. Safe to say I enjoy a little bit of chaos!

Key Skills

What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc

I have been fortunate to work with a bit of everything. I have worked with foals, stallions, racehorses and a whole bunch of others. I take pride in general horse care and learning closely about the horses. I work well alone and as part of a team and communication is something I am a big encourager of. I can do all general yard jobs.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

I love learning all of their little habits and opening peoples eyes to things they don’t know, I think it is really valuable to share knowledge based off of experiences

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

My plaiting!

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I think in the horse world it is hard to get someone that will put the horses first – that is not the case with me! I am reliable, knowledgeable (although do occasionally doubt myself – I am human) and have a ‘can do’ attitude. I’m also pretty tall so I can reach the hard to get stuff! I like to try everything, no matter if I am going to be awful at it.
