Experience with Horses

Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.

I have extensive experience with horses of different ages, types and temperaments. I completed The National Stud’s Level 3 Stud Management and Sales Consignment Course with Distinction, gaining experience handling mares, foals, weanlings, yearlings, stallions and active racehorses.  Prior to this, I owned two ponies and regularly hunted and hacked, giving me a strong foundation in general horse care, riding and handling.

Key Skills

What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc

I am confident handling a wide variety of horses and am particularly good at adapting to different personalities and temperaments. I am hardworking, reliable and comfortable both working independently and as part of a team. I am experienced in general yard duties, grooming, tacking up, mucking out, turning out, bringing in and handling young horses, stallions and racehorses. I am also confident riding and enjoy developing a good understanding of each horse I work with.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

I enjoy the variety that comes with working with horses and particularly enjoy building a relationship with each individual horse. I love being involved in their everyday care and seeing their personalities and abilities develop. I also really enjoy riding and the challenge of adapting my approach to suit different horses.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I am always keen to broaden my experience and learn new skills. I would particularly like to gain more experience riding a wider variety of horses and disciplines, while continuing to develop my knowledge of horse care, fitness and management. I am very open to learning and enjoy being taught by experienced people.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I am a hardworking, enthusiastic and adaptable horsewoman with experience across a wide range of horses and environments. I have both professional experience and a strong personal background with horses, from owning and hunting my own ponies to working with racehorses and completing my Level 3 qualification in Stud Management and Sales Consignment at The National Stud with Distinction. I am willing to get stuck into every aspect of yard work, take pride in the standard of care I provide and am keen to learn and take on responsibility. Most importantly, I am genuinely passionate about horses and committed to doing the job to a high standard.
