Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
I am a competent rider in walk, trot and canter, but always looking to improve my skills under tuition. I am confident in handling all ages and sizes of horses, currently backing my four year old mare and beginning the schooling of my older cob, as he has been used as a hacking pony for most of his life. I am able to maintain paddocks, stables and general yard tidiness. I am able to groom, pick hooves, hold for farrier, dentist, and vet. I can ride and lead confidently and I am able to prioritise jobs in any order needed. I am able to make up and store feed, load haynets, and other yard and animal associated duties.
I am used to handling other farm animals such as ducks, chickens, pigs, cats and sheep as we have these on our current yard and a dog at home who I exercise and feed.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
I am learning to plait, and I have had some experience with clipping under my mothers tuition. I am able to handle young horses and be able to work alone once something has been shown to me. I am able to work well with others and I am punctual, keen to learn and willing to try new things.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
building connection and improving my skills and their education
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
My skillset and knowledge surrounding all aspects of horse care, maintenance and husbandry
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I work hard, keen to learn, willing to try all new tasks, punctual, and a genuine love and passion for anything Equine related, my dream is to mould my career around horses and the Equine world
