Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
15 years experience of top class professional yards, mostly in eventing but some show jumping and dressage experience. Groomed at multiple 5* in UK and Europe as well as numerous national and international events at all levels. Confident handling all horses, stallions, youngstock, fit competition horses. I’m efficient and thorough in all jobs and hold myself to high standards. I have high standards of turnout, happy plaiting, clipping etc. Organised, can manage vet visit, farriers, owners etc etc.
For a non-yard job I also have extensive experience in admin, especially within equine veterinary but also within small animal practices and as private personal PA.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
Team player but capable of sole charge.
Love turning out to high standard, plaiting, bathing etc.
Happy to ride but not essential. Have evented up to 2*, show jumped to 120, broken in and produced my own young horse as well as schooling all types on professional event yards previously.
Not specifically equine but still cross over – I’m meticulous in everything I do. Organised, experienced in all forms of communication (email, phone etc), confident using Microsoft office.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I like to make sure they are cared for in the best way possible, whether they are ultra-fit athletes or happy hackers, making sure they have a great quality of life.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I’m always learning new ways of doing things, especially as a freelancer, seeing different yards is interesting, and I’m always up for having my riding scrutinised if I’m working for someone willing to put me on their horses and teach me.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I’m very dependable, I will be at work on time day in, day out and I can communicate and take instruction well.
