I grew up on a livery yard/riding school in West Yorkshire, where I had my own show ponies from the age of 4 and my sister competed high level show jumping. We then moved to the Yorkshire Dales where we had a working farm keeping cattle & sheep, here I continued with my own ponies doing Endurance and ODE.
I then went to Myerscough College where I obtained my level 3 in equine business management and NVQ level 2. During this time I worked on a show jumping stud where I gained experience in studwork. Other duties included general yard duties, field management and horse handling. After this I went to University at Hartpury College where I took my own horse, and did my degree in BA (Hons) Equine Business Management. I had some fantastic opportunities to compete and trial hunt around Gloucester.
My true passion is the care around owning horses, my horses want for nothing and receive 5* care. I understand the importance of routine, management of each individual horse, feed management, and I am competent with all aspects of horse ownership and care, including clipping, bathing, mucking out, turn out for most disciplines, handling all types, riding, grooming whether this be at home or away at shows. I have been lucky enough to own my own horses all my life, which naturally comes with dealing with injuries & veterinary visits. I have rehabbed successfully and understand the different needs horses require.
My other passion is retraining standardbreds, this is something I have done successfully for the past 15 years. I have achieved great successes taking them from the track to riding/competition level. This has included backing & breaking, retraining, introducing canter as their natural gait is to pace, schooling, training and competing.
I have been running my own dog grooming business since 2019. I have done this full time covering dog grooming, dog walking, yard cover, riding, dog boarding, house sitting and holiday cover. More recently it has been alongside a part time position. I worked at Harry Hall as a designer which gained me great experience & knowledge in the equine retail industry, and more recently a job closer to home as an office manager so my skills are very versatile and adaptable as a result of this.
I am open to any position due to possible relocation to North Yorkshire, if it is a live in position I do have a very well behaved working cocker spaniel and two horses, I am happy for the horses to be kept off-site separately, but I would require something that accepts a dog.
