Future Requirements

• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?

I would like to continue gaining experience and develop my skills in horse care and management. I enjoy working with horses and being outdoors and keeping busy. I want to learn new things, become more confident and be a reliable hard working member of staff whilst making sure the horses are happy, healthy and well cared for. I would love to feel like a part of the family in my next job

• Do you need accommodation?

Preferably yes

• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?

I have 2 very well behaved dogs. Axle, a 5 year old red Patterdale terrier and Cilla, an 11 year old black Labrador of whom I inherited from a dear friend of mine who passed away last year.

• Do you have any ongoing commitments?

I am still working for my current employer on a self employed basis. Ideally I would like to give her reasonable notice so that she can make adequate arrangements for a replacement as I don’t want to leave before I know that she has found someone to fill my space. I know that is not ideal however I don’t want to leave her stuck.

• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?

I have a hen-do to attend to 25th-28th June 2027.

Experience with Horses

I have been around horses from a young age. My sister and I found our passion for horses together and have ridden since we were young. I have worked at riding schools, racing yards, livery yards and private yards. I have dealt with and handled stallions, young stock, riding school horses, hunt horses and event horses. I am confident when handling slightly more ‘excited’ or ‘fresh’ horses. I can clip, plait and turnout out to a high standard. I am happy to turnout/look after horses however said employer would prefer.

Key Skills

I have a solid foundation in horse care, I bring a unique blend of patience, communication, and organisational skills to ensure each day runs as smooth as possible. My background includes firsthand experience with general yard duties, paddock/ground maintenance, riding and exercising, horse handling, and security and yard management. I am committed to teamwork and always eager to learn more. I excel in creating positive relationships with both horses and colleagues. I have a brilliant sense of humour, and I am also happy to work alone or as part of a team. I am very friendly and always come to work with a smile. I enjoy helping people and building positive relationships with the people that I work with or for. I am a huge animal lover and have 2 dogs of my own. They are always my priority.

 

 

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

Horses have always been a part of my life and they bring me joy. I love riding and seeing the horses happy, healthy and progressing in whatever stage of their life they are in. I love to build a bond with each individual horse and learn their personalities and quirks. I love how rewarding it is when a horse learns to trust you and when you develop a proper relationship with them. I also love working outdoors despite the weather conditions.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I am always wanting to improve. Everyday is a school day in my eyes and I love to gain more knowledge for the benefit of the animals I am responsible for.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

What sets me apart is my combination of strong, hands-on horse care experience, keen attention to detail, and absolute reliability. I am consistently loyal to the family I work for even after ‘contracted’ work hours. I don’t just manage the daily barn routines; I proactively monitor the health, condition, and behaviour of every horse in my care, ensuring subtle issues are noticed and addressed immediately. I will not walk away from a situation and will always make the best decision in an emergency. I would always be happy to be around not only to care for the animals but the family too.
