Mainly I am a rider for people who need an extra person to exercise their horses. I’m used to riding several different horses a day with no prior knowledge of them.

What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
I am mainly just a rider, on the gallops and canter tracks but also hacking out non-racing horses for owners who for different reasons are not riding their horses or just to keep them fit, ticking over, basic schooling, bringing horses back into work, building up horses confidence, etc. I have also taught lots of children and beginners over many years (BHS Stage 2 qualified) but I am not looking to teach anymore. I’m light and I can stay on. I don’t like it, but I can take a few bucks and rears and spooks and keep going. If a horse is sressed, I can be patient, long rein, free rein, and patiently bring it back into work.

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I like them, I like riding them, I love riding lots of different ones, I like seeing them improve over time, I like going out in a string and i like hacking out alone too.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I want to learn about other areas than race riding such as polo, dressage, eventing or hunting.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
They won’t find someone who says ‘I know everything’, it will be ‘Show me once, I don’t know, I like to learn’ then I get on with it. I follow the instructions, turn up on time, in all weathers. I try my best to be kind to horses and treat them well.
