Summary
Dedicated equine groom with my whole life dedicated in equine health and wellbeing. Skilled in grooming, feeding, competition and race day preparation, maintaining facilities and grazing land, competing at county standard, while fostering a safe and engaging environment.
Experience
- M J Blake Racing and SB Racehorse Rehoming. August 2025 – ongoing
- Preparing and administering feeds, including medications, supplements, ensuring optimal nutrition for racehorses in training and retired racehorses. Also providing fresh forage and water daily maintaining hydration and dietary needs.
- Mucking out, bedding down and yard maintenance to uphold cleanliness and hygiene. Ensuring that the yard is in compliance with health and safety regulations with BRA and BHA.
- Managing turnout and bringing in of horses including young stock, stallions, broodmares and racehorses.
- Preparing horses for race days, leading up on race days. Ensuring turn out is of highest standard. Ensuring that horses have correct care after racing.
- Riding horses out on the gallops, in fast work or slow work ensuring that the horses have been worked correctly.
- Managing a small team of staff, training staff to ensure that yard tasks are carried out safely and correctly.
Freelancing – self employed July 2024 – August 2025
- Carrying out work at multiple different yards providing care and well being of a variety of horses.
- Adhering to standards set by different yard managers, head grooms and owners.
- Maintaining yard cleanliness in different yards using different pieces of equipment and machinery such as gators and quad bikes.
- Promptly notifying yard managers and staff of any repairs/ maintenance that need to be made, as well as notifying changes in horses behaviour, lameness, cuts, or shortages of grass, forage, hard feed, supplements or medication.
- Contacting vets or farrier’s and providing rehabilitation plans alongside them to ensuring the best quality of care.
