Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
I have several years of hands on experience working with horses, across racing, polo and bloodstock. I have worked with both jump and flat race horses, including a season with Mickey Hammond and experience with Micheal Herrington. I have also worked in polo, grooming for profession polo player Ed Morris, and have experience handling and caring for a range of horses from stallions to foals. I also have bloodstock experience, including assisting with live coverings, caring for mares and foals, and general breeding yard work. I am a confident rider, a quick learner and very comfortable adapting to different horses and working environments.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
I have experience with racehorse/polo exercise, grooming, clipping, mucking out, poo picking, turning horses out and bringing them in, tack cleaning and general yard duties, my plaiting could use some improvement but its not terrible. I am confident handling racehorses, youngsters, foals and stallions and have experience working independently as well as part of a team.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I most enjoy building a bond with each horse and gaining their trust. I love learning their individual personalities and seeing them progress, while being involved in all aspects of their care and work.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I would like to think there are always ways to improve my riding and my skills.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I am hardworking, reliable and genuinely passionate about horses. I learn quickly and work well both independently and as part of a team. I take pride in the care and welfare of the horses and always try to give 100%.
