Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
– Ridden/owned my own horses for 25+ years
– Ridden and groomed for friends/clients of my aunts both at home and away shows
– Attended Pony Club in my younger days so I have all my stable management certificates etc
– Basic medial experience so can spot colic, lameness, a horse not being itself etc
– Mucking and turning out to a high standard. I pride myself on a perfect bed and a swept yard!
– Tack cleaning
– Feeds/worming/medication administration
– Retrained my own ex racer
– My 30 year old pony (owned him for 19 years) was PTS in 2024 so have been out of horses for a couple of years so looking for someone to give me the opportunity to get back into it. I have the knowledge and experience, just not the riding fitness currently, hence looking for a non-riding role.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
– I enjoy the day to day duties, I like to structure my day and keep a yard clean and tidy.
– I can work alone or within a team
– I treat all horses as if they were my own
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
– Horses were my whole childhood so they are my passion and all I’ve ever known.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
– I would love to improve my plaiting, clipping and pulling skills.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
– Besides my experience with horses I would say I am a fun, loving and bubbly personality who can get on with anyone. I am not one to shy away from hard work and I am really keen to learn. I am just looking for that opportunity to get back into what I love and for that I would be eternally grateful.
