Experience with Horses

Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.

I have extensive experience with horses through both personal ownership and previous employment at Oak Farm Livery and other equestrian establishments. I have cared for and handled horses of varying ages, temperaments and needs, from foals to competition horses, undertaking daily care and routine yard duties. I have also assisted with transporting pregnant mares to veterinary clinics for scans and vaccinations, gaining valuable exposure to veterinary care. As a horse owner myself, I understand the importance of patience, responsible handling and maintaining high standards of equine health and welfare. My experience has strengthened my passion for working with horses and my ambition to develop my practical skills and pursue a career in equine

Key Skills

What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc

I am particularly good at working both independently and as part of a team. I am hardworking, reliable, organised and able to prioritise tasks effectively while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety and care. My equine experience includes routine yard duties, caring for horses with different needs and supporting the preparation and care of ponies. I have strong communication and customer-service skills, developed through my administrative and hospitality roles, and I am confident handling responsibilities that require accuracy, professionalism and attention to detail. I am receptive to feedback, committed to learning and always approach my work with care and accountability.

What I enjoy most about working with horses is building a bond with them and being able to contribute to their health, happiness and wellbeing. I find caring for them rewarding, particularly knowing that patience, understanding and attention to their individual needs can make a real difference. My experience owning my own horse has strengthened my passion for equine care and my desire to develop a career where I can support horses through their everyday needs.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I would like to continue improving my knowledge, practical skills and confidence when working with horses. I am always keen to learn new things, take on feedback and develop both personally and professionally. I believe there is always room for improvement, and I enjoy challenging myself to become more capable and experienced.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I am a reliable, hardworking and enthusiastic individual with a genuine passion for horses and a strong willingness to learn. Through owning my own horse and working at livery yards, I have gained valuable hands-on experience caring for horses of different ages and temperaments. I am responsible, patient and adaptable, and I take pride in approaching tasks with care and attention to detail. I would bring a positive attitude, dedication and a strong work ethic to the role, alongside a genuine desire to continue learning and developing my skills.
