Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
I have worked previously at a riding school / livery yard for 4.5 years. I started as a junior groom helping out with basic tasks in the riding school such as mucking out, tacking up ponies, sweeping / general tidying, preparing hays etc. I progressed into working on the livery yard and occasionally managing a small team. My responsibilities included all that I did in the riding school, in addition to riding, higher standards of efficiency and time management and being resposible for 23 horses within our small team of 3-4 people. I also gained skills in show turnout, tack cleaning, and basic equine first aid.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
Horse Welfare is always at the forefront of my mind, especially when I’m working. I have demonstrated this working alone, and in a team at my previous job. I can produce a good standard of show turnout / plaiting, and have experienced handing / riding a variety of horses.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I love caring for horses and getting to know their individual personalities, as well as getting to see the difference I make when my dedication pays off to give the horses the happiest life I can.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I would like to add to my experience and learn as much as possible and keep improving my skills in the equine industry.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I have a very high attention to detail and am dedicated to horse welfare. I will give every horse I have the pleasure of working with the highest standard of care, to make sure they are happy and comfortable.
