Experience with Horses
I have now worked with horses for 23 years
I started as head groom for Judy Bradwell producing young event horses and have worked in hunt service, riding schools, studs and at Riseholme college. For the last 13 years I have held yard managers positions
i managed a hunting yard for 3 years before my current job
currently I am theyard manager at Brackenspa stud. A huge stud farm with mares foaling, mares and foals and stallions. I handle the stallions for semen collections, spend the mornings scanning mares with the vet. I deal with many different clients. Also arrange the vet, farrier, owners, horses arriving and being discharged. All this, as well as managing a small team of staff
I have a passion for dressage and have ridden to PSG. I love producing young horses and enjoy a days hunting.
i can plait, clip, pull manes and tails (including managing difficult horses). Have a range of experience from stallions and foals to hunters and eventers, dressage horses and breeding stock
Key Skills

i am a hard worker and would rather have too much to do than not enough.
I’ve ridden and competed stallions as well as producing young horses.
I have handled horses from foals to stallions. Have a huge wealth of experience in different industries
Strengths and Weaknesses
- What do you most enjoy about working with horses
- the pleasure a horse brings you is fabulous. I love the bond I build with a horse I’m working with and love all their different characters.
- Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I just want to keep improving my knowledge in every aspect. You never stop learning when working with horses and no two days are the same.
- Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I have great experience and give 120% to my job. I live, eat and sleep it. Some people say I get too involved but that’s just me. If I don’t get so involved I don’t feel I’m giving my 100%
Requirements
- What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
I’m really flexible to which direction I go in next. Working on a nice yard with fun people and great horses is my ideal. Having worked in many different yards, no two are the same and they’ve all brought me great pleasure.
id love to find a job where I could stay long term, with a great tram of people and horses
- Do you need accommodation?
It would depend where it was as I live near Sleaford in Cranwell.
- Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
I have a fabulous little dog who is just amazing. I also have a brood mare who is due to foal in March and part own a foal. But they don’t have to come with me
- Do you have any ongoing commitments?
No
- Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?
I am teaching at pony club camp from the 3rd to the 8th august
