Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services.
I have owned and managed my own stable yard as well as other yards around the globe from America, Italy, South Africa and Malaysia. I have rescued and rehabilitated horses to competition level. I have taught children and adults from various levels from beginner to provincial level, as well as special needs children from Autism, down syndrome, partially sighted, as well as reach for a dream children. I have worked closely with my own vets as well as seeing to injuries and medicating horses myself.
I have ridden to provincial level myself in Elementary dressage and ridden the South African Lipizzaners performing at Medium dressage in the school Quadrille. I have competed in show jumping, cross country and endurance racing, as well as grooming for the South African team in the 2003 Endurance World Cup in Dubai. I have been scribing for many dressage competitions in South Africa from novice right up to Grand Prix CDI 3* working with many national and International judges. I have recently received my Panel A trainee dressage judges qualification.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine ski
My particular skills: I work well with rescue horses giving them the chance to understand, with a softer gentler approach. I like to help people achieve their goals with riding, be it learning or achieving medals. I work well leading teams, motivating them and working side by side with them. I enjoy competing as well as performance riding.
Strengths and Weaknessescom
- What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I enjoy making a difference in the lives of horses eg. rescue horses, gaining their trust and making them champions in whatever they do, be it show jumping or teaching 3-year-olds how to ride. I enjoy a gentler approach always showing the horses they can trust me and in doing so forming great partnerships. I strive to pass on my knowledge of horses and hope that people who cross my path go onto training, riding and teaching as I do, and therefore passing on their knowledge and making a difference.
My weaknesses: I am a perfectionist and am self-critical always expecting the best of myself. I am aware of my weakness and always work on my faults.
- Is there anything you’d like to improve?
Yes, I would like to eventually achieve my goals of becoming an international competitor or coach.
- Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker
