polo groom –

duties included: herding horses in and out, mucking out 60 stables between 5 staff, tacking up for clients, attending chukkas and matches, exercising up to 5 horses on set at any one time, field and fence maintenance, working as part of a small team, hogging ponies and making sure they remain presentable, schooling young stock, working with foals and broodmares, working with two stallions.

Contracted show jumping groom –

duties in role – sole charge groom, tack up for rider, turn horses in and out, attend local and stay away shows with rider, school horses when needed, hack out fit competition horses, hand graze where appropriate, equine first aid, clip, bathe, maintain mane and tail, ensure all horses get 5* standard of care, overseeing young stock, assist in the breaking of young horses including long reining, general handling, hand walking, free jumping, weight introduction, tack introduction, bit and bridle introduction. Plait and turnout to high standard at shows, always vigilant and reliable.

September 2020 – current

groom/rider/assistant to head girl

working for up and coming young event rider on a mixed yard with carriage driving, hunting, eventing and polo. My duties include: transporting horses to polo/vets/sale/events/hunts, dealing with vet and assisting where needed, preparing horses for a variation of disciplines, keeping horses appearance to a top quality, clipping, exercising up to 4 horses a day, schooling young horses, taking horses off the premises for jumping lessons/training days. Filling in for head girl when away or off. Taking direction and working in a small team. Overseeing small team when head girl not present.  Organising farrier/ physio, handling and riding fit competition horses of all disciplines. Turning in and out, making decisions when owner/head girl away.
