Experience with Horses
I have spent over 30 years working with horses, mainly hunters & p2pointers. I have also worked in riding schools, a Trekking centre & with the RDA. I have owned my own horses since a child & have competed in dressage, cross-country & show jumping but none to a very high standard as I’m much happier preparing the horses for competition than actually competing myself. My son had ponies as a child that he show jumping & hunted & we travelled to shows most weekends. Sadly for me he is now all grown up & no longer rides.
Key Skills
I am very particular about presentation & always make sure my horses are turned out to the highest standards . Most yards I’ve worked on have had fully fit TB’s & young stock so I’m happy handling most horses.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
Working with horses is an obsession not a job. I’ve been out of it for a few years as thought I should get a “proper job” but being stuck in an office is not for me & I need to get back out doing what I love.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I’m reliable, tidy & my horses always come first. I’m the one you will find sleeping in a cold stable all night because one of the horses isn’t well& I don’t panic when things go wrong
