Experience with Horses
I have been riding for 15 years. I have my own horses and regularly event. Please feel free to look me up on Instagram. I have worked on many livery yards and dealers yards. I have also done work experience for Chris Burton and was kept on as holiday cover. Currently I am freelance so working on my own with a range of horses.
Key Skills
I am very particular about turnout so my plaiting, quarter marks, clipping, pulling etc are all to a high standard. I am very used to handling a range of horses so this is something I am very confident with. Having worked for a dealer I am also used to riding many different horses and I am confident and have lots of experience with competing, schooling etc. Being a freelance groom I am confident working on my own and can happily complete usual daily tasks.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
Being outside and working with them as individuals. I’m currently working in an office but living for my lunch hour.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
Obviously there is always improvements to make where riding is concerned so I am always looking for more tips and tricks.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I am a very confident within the equine industry as this is what I have always done. My skills mean I am very adaptable and happy to pick up work wherever needed.
Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
Just being back out with horses. Ideally I’d like to be traveling but also compete myself.
• Do you need accommodation?
Yes.
• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
I would need to bring my horse – he’s the easiest horse to do, 14 year old gelding. He’s seen the world now so he just events with me.
I may occasionally have the dog with me or he may be with me full time but he is very good around the horses and loves coming out for interval training – whippet x staff.
• Do you have any ongoing commitments?
My eventing but this is one day every other week usually.
• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?
29 April – 8 May.
