Experience with Horses

To learn as much as I can and to become an even better rider is my main goal.

Started riding at the age of 7 and began by taking lessons in a pony club, in center Milan. After a year or so, I found a Western Riding School and learned everything about Reining. After a good couple years of training and competitions, I got to the point of having to buy a horse of my own, but couldn’t afford it. This is when my mother persuaded me to give Dressage a try. It’ is safe to say that I rather quickly fell in love with the discipline so at the age of 10/11 I started taking lessons and still wasn’t really sure what this discipline was all about. As the years go by I had the great luck to train in different stables and compete horses that weren’t my own. As I was close to getting my high school diploma, my mind was pretty much already set on leaving Italy and try and learn more abroad.  What better place to start from if not at the Talland School of Equitation. There I met Pammy Hutton, who’s played a big role in my one year stay. I’ve always worked in her yard, also known as the Competition Yard, and had the amazing opportunity to cover a role as a member of her yard staff and at the same time take lessons, follow lectures and complete my BHS exams up to my complete Stage 3 BHSAI Coaching. Going from schools desks to actually working 24/7 on a yard was already a dream come true for me, but it all got so much better when I got the chance to sit on most of her horses and then to train one! When my year experience was close to an end I decided I would try and move on and look for more training and experiences, so I trialed for a 3 weeks time at Gareth Hughes Dressage. At the same time I got contacted by McLean’s stable and had the opportunity to move to Germany. Close to the end of my 3 weeks trial I took the really hard decision to move to Germany, although my experience with Gareth and Rebecca Hughes has been unforgettable and so inspiring! Warwick and Carolina McLean have given me the opportunity to become the competent and better rider I am today.

In the following years up to now, I have worked and trained for nearly 3 years with Lucy Cartwright and Daniel Bremner. Have been so lucky to have been given several rides to bring on and here I managed to make my National debut for 2 years in a row – as well as taking part in the U25 Championships. I subsequently started working as freelance and ride and teach for a wide range of clients, until I eventually got the opportunity to return to Germany where I am currently based at Dressage yard CCDressage, in Vechta.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

Working with horses is not easy, but every single day you learn so much from them. You learn patience, calmness, awareness/caution, sensibility, balance and you just never stop learning! You do get to work in a team, but the horses are part of that team as well, everything revolves around them, and that’s what makes each day worth it!

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I’m always looking to improve as a rider to be better for the horses, so widen up the knowledge I’ve already developed so far. I’d love to be able to move up the levels but haven’t been able to afford a horse of my own, as of yet.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I am a really quick learner, really willing to work hard and always trying to give the best I can. This is something I really want to do and I think I’d be a good member to take part in any team!
