Experience with Horses

I have been fortunate enough to have horses as part of my life, whether my own or working with them. From a young age I joined Staff College & Sandhurst Hunts Pony Club and then riding club as an adult. I enjoy a variety of disciplines such as eventing, dressage and show jumping and try to take my own horse out competing/training when possible. I am also keen on drag hunting over the winter months. After completing a diploma in equine care and management, I began my career as a groom at a livery yard and it’s been my passion ever since.

I have held several positions from high end livery yards, polo, carriage driving and more recently a private home. I prefer to work on smaller yards where I have the opportunity to care for each horse as an individual.

Key Skills

I am punctual and reliable and always get stuck in to a task.

Happy to work alone and take sole charge of the yard. Equally I enjoy being part of team.

Confident and balanced rider who can school, jump and hack.

Happy to look after small animals such as cats, dogs, poultry etc.

I have my BHS stage 2 in care and both flat and jump ride. I’m currently training for my stage 3 exam.

Clean full UK driving license and competent to drive a 3.5t horsebox.

 

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I feel I am stagnating in my current role, I am very happy but I feel I am not being challenged. I would like to move to a more fulfilling role where I can grow and develop in my professional and personal life. I am currently training towards my BHS Stage 3. It is important to me to continuously improve my riding and horsemanship.

 

 

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I am a great asset to any yard/team. I care and look after my charges to the best of my ability. My passion in life is horses, I have a good work ethic and like to keep everything tidy (slightly on the OCD side!). I’m a kind, genuine, personable and approachable person that wants to excel in doing what I love.

• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?

I would like to continue on a small private yard and progress to a head groom position. I am confident and capable to take on more responsibility within my work and ready for a new challenge. My constant desire is to keep improving.

• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?

I have an easy going 16hh Thoroughbred mare that I  have owned since I was 15. Whilst she can be stabled, she does prefer to live out.  She would ideally reside at my place of work.

Tequila, my horse.
