Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
I have owned my own horse since the age of 12 of which age I regularly volunteered at my local riding school, aiding in leading lessons, tacking up, grooming and all stable duties. I have always competed my own horse in local competitions including showing, dressage and showjumping winning points accumulatiors for dressage in 2015 and supreme champion in showing in 2018.
In 2019-2020 I attended Bishop Burton College completing my Level 2 BTEC Diploma in Equine Care with a Distinction* grade as well as my Ride and Road Saftey quailification and working towards my BHS stages which were delyaed due to COVID-19.
I started working on a local Full Livery Yard in 2020 – 2021 where I undertook all the needs of the horses in my care as well as yard maintinance, here I continued to develop my equine first aid skills in a practical setting as well as being left in sole charge to turnout and bring in a variety of horses including fit competition horses. Furthermore I developed my knowledge in administering medication for several different horses and working closely under vet instruction.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
I am confident working alone as well as being happy to work as part of a team, recieve and follow instruction but also take my own initiative when necessary.
I have rode a variety of horses including horses with behavioural issues, young and inexperienced horses as well as handling them sympathetically and with upmost safety at all times.
I have previously taken horses to competitions and have prepared all equipment and the horses themselves for this including clipping in which I am happy to undertake including preparation of native breeds.
Holder of clean drivers license with own car and insurance therefor happy to travel.
