Experience with Horses

Currently completing a Level 2 equine groom apprenticeship on a livery yard. Previously, I had volunteered at a trekking centre and my local equestrian centre. Although I am completing the non-ridden pathway, I have been having regular lessons, and videos of my riding are available if necessary.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

I enjoy the variety; no two days are the same, and sometimes there are challenging days, but it makes the rewarding days more rewarding

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I am constantly learning, but in particular I would like to learn more about plaiting, trimming, pulling, and clipping if such an opportunity arises

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I am a hard working, committed individual who has gained confidence during my level 2 equine groom apprenticeship. I would consider myself friendly and approachable. I will also get on with the job, and in my current role have been left to help run the yard by myself, allowing others to ride.

Requirements

• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?

I would like to further my equestrian knowledge, with the long term goal of progressing into equine assisted learning/therapy

• Do you need accommodation?

Yes

• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?

I am currently loaning a horse, which if the circumstances are right would consider buying, so potentially a horse

• Do you have any ongoing commitments?

Level 2 equine groom apprenticeship until February 2022

• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?

None
