Experience with Horses

I have 20years of experience in the thoroughbred stud industry with everything from foals to yearlings mares and stallions. General maintenance and paddock maintenance.

  • Yearling prep
  • Foal prep
  • Mare prep
  • Sales work
  • Sitting up/Foaling
  • Assist in the covering barn holding foals, mares and teasers
  • Assist with the veterinary work at the stud and in the clinic
  • Driving the horse box
  • Stud maintenance
  • General yard work

Collin Stud             2000 – 2004
This was my first job as a stud hand. I thoroughly enjoyed working here, as it was a great opportunity to learn everything that is involved on a stud farm on a day to day basis. My job entailed:
● Yearling prep
● Foal prep
● Mare prep
● Sales work
● Assist in the covering barn holding foals, mares and teasers
● Assist with the veterinary work at the stud and in the clinic
● Stud maintenance
● General yard work
As much as I enjoyed working here, it helped shape and prepare me for a new challenge.

Wyck Hall Stud            2004 – 2007
As this was a smaller, private stud, it was a good opportunity to get more hands on experience as I was living on site. This allowed me to gain more hands on experience with most aspects of both the breeding season and sales preparation, but mainly with foaling as I was keen to learn more about this.
● Foaling
● Assist in the covering barn holding foals, mares and teasers
● Assist with the veterinary work at the stud and in the clinic
● Yearling prep
● Sales work
● General yard work
● Stud maintenance

I was offered a job at Darley. With the experience I gained from my previous employment, I felt this was the right time to move on and gain more responsibility.
Darley             2007 – 2008
Unfortunately, at Darley I was more involved with general stud maintenance rather than working with horses. As working with horses and progressing with my career was and still is very important, I decided to apply for a different job.
Cheveley Park Stud   2008 – 2013
This move was the right decision for me, as I was back to working with horses most of the time. I was involved with all aspects of stud work which allowed me to keep developing on both a personal and professional level.
● Yearling prep
● Foal prep
● Mare prep
● Sales work
● Sitting up/Foaling
● Assist in the covering barn holding foals, mares and teasers
● Assist with the veterinary work at the stud and in the clinic
● Stud maintenance
● General yard work

The Royal Stud Sandringham  20013 – 20013
This was a temporary position during the breeding season. I had applied to highclere as they were fully staffed until the start of sales prep I was asked if I would do the foaling season at sandringham  with the view to move on to highclere  .was involved with all aspects of this season from foaling to taking the mares to covering.
● Sitting up/Foaling
● Assisting in the covering barn holding foals, mares and teasers
● Assist with the veterinary work at the stud and in the clinic
● Driving the horse box
● General yard work

Highclere Stud            2013 – 2017
At Highclere stud, I was involved in all aspects of stud work. Throughout my years of working on different stud farms, I have learned that I thoroughly enjoy yearling prep and tired to focus and expand my knowledge of this at Highclere. My time there allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of it.
● Yearling prep
● Foal prep
● Mare prep
● Sales work
● Sitting up/Foaling
● Assist in the covering barn holding foals, mares and teasers
● Assist with the veterinary work at the stud and in the clinic
