Experience with Horses

I’ve been on and around horses since age 12 (14+ years). I am confident with all ages, heights and temperaments (including high energy horses such as my own). Having my own 2 horses for 10+ years means I am highly confident in all aspects of horse care, whether it be dealing with other equine professionals, feeding, turning in or out, bathing, mucking out and anything else that is involved in the day to day life of horse ownership. Please see my CV for more detail on this. I am also a fully qualified Equine sports and rehabilitation massage therapist.

I have previously worked on a private dressage / livery yard in Bunny, Nottinghamshire. I undertook all aspects of horse care in my role and I would often be the only staff member on the yard at the time, even the yard owner would often be out competing and therefore leaving me sole charge. My roles included but were not limited to: mucking out stables / turnout pens, turning in and out (often multiple horses at a time), replenishing water, filling hay and haylage nets to required weight, sweeping the yard and more. All of my jobs were done promptly and to a high standard. I have also massage livery members horses on the yard outside of work hours too.

Key Skills

lunging, riding, handling large / high energy or young horses, mucking out, turning in or out, long reining, clipping (basic skills), hogging manes, rug changes, feeding, giving equine massage therapy, poo picking, bathing, tack cleaning, tacking up / down

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

Being outside and spending time with these incredible creatures. Each horse has its own personality and I love getting to know them and their quirks.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

My bandaging skills

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I’m a confident, reliable and hard working person with a can do attitude and previous experience in the equestrian field (both paid and unpaid). I’m also a qualified equine sport and rehabilitation massage therapist which I believe sets me apart from other grooms.

Requirements

• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?

I would love to meet great like-minded equestrians and spend time outside.

• Do you need accommodation?

Yes

• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?

I would need to bring my medium sized dog. He is a chow chow. Very clean, very quiet and very calm. He spends most of his day sleeping. He would never be off lead around the yard / horses.

• Do you have any ongoing commitments?

Dog owner, so bringing my dog with me is a must. I would want to bring my partner to live with me on site. He is a non-smoker / non-vaper and qualified roofer by trade.

• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?

6th – 8th July 2026
