Experience with Horses
I owned my own horses for approx 20 years and cared for them solely. I rented grazing and stables, managing the field throughout the year. They were only general riding horses but I did some competing at local shows in basic dressage, showjumping and cross country. My first job out of school was at a farm in Hampshire, looking after the family horses and then helping on the farm. I have since worked in a livery yard also. I have been a dog groomer so am calm and patient and used to dealing with temperamental animals. I have also worked in a dairy so am used to working in all weathers, early mornings and getting mucky.
Key Skills
I am hardworking and reliable. I can work equally well in a team or independently and take direction easily whilst happily helping others. I am happy to work in all weathers. I have an eye for detail and notice when animals are injured or unwell. I am adaptable and willing to try my hand to anything. I am keen to refresh my equine knowledge and learn any alternative methods of training.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I enjoy grooming, feeding and even mucking out. I like watching them peacefully grazing or munching on their hay.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I would like to improve my skills with horses and expand my knowledge of different caring/training techniques.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I am hardworking and reliable. Animals always come first and I try to ensure that they are safe and happy.
Requirements
