SEPTEMBER 2019- JUNE 2023
INTEGRATED MASTERS VETERINARY PHYSIOTHERAPY, WRITTLE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE
Having completed my Integrated Masters in Veterinary Physiotherapy at Writtle University College I am now level 7 qualified in both the canine and equine species. Studying this course has heightened my work ethic further and taught me dedication can be the key to success.
To say university was both my biggest challenge and achievement to date would be an understatement. Each year of studying was different allowing me to explore many new areas from anatomy to nutrition right through to rehabilitation. One thing university was persistent with was learning the anatomy for the canine and equine species, my anatomy knowledge flourished in the four years meaning I finished my degree with an extensive anatomical and physiological knowledge of both species. The fourth year was by far the most intense yet involved year, where we were able to be hands on with the canine patients and horses at the yard. Each week we focused on a new condition and expanded our knowledge when applying treatments and rehabilitation plans to patients.
My interests in the field have only increased and I look forward to the future. The previous experience I have of working in different environments has been reflected on heavily throughout this course as I was required to work in a team with new people and show confidence in doing so. These are skills I will carry through into all aspects of my working career.
GRADUATED JUNE 2017 EXTENDED DIPLOMA IN LEVEL THREE HORSE MANAGEMENT, SHUTTLEWORTH COLLEGE The qualification is an extended diploma in level 3 horse management which I achieved while at college. In this qualification I achieved a distinction *, distinction, distinction. Level 3 horse management involved all aspects of looking after horses from their daily routine to riding. We had multiple sections to cover over the two years and this increased my already present knowledge of horse husbandry and set the foundations necessary for me to progress to university. At college I participated in three ridden sessions per week, these involved a mixture of flat work and jumping. I got the opportunity to ride a mixture of horses, all at different levels and trained in various disciplines. Involved in our studies was also varying factors relevant to horses including nutrition, conditions and diseases, competition turnout and travelling, event management, stud work and the racing industry field and yard management and equine health checks and first aid. All sections of our study criteria offered a new set of skills and depth of knowledge. I enjoyed all aspects of college, and I am thankful for all it taught me. |
2012- PRESENT
MY OWN HORSES,
2012 was the year I discovered horses; I can safely say I have not looked back since. When I was 9 years old, I went to my first riding lesson at a riding school, I fell in love with horses and stayed there for four years. I had my riding lesson once a week and any other opportunity I got I would be down at the yard volunteering and helping out with the daily jobs just so I could be around the horses. At 13 years old I got my first loan pony; with him I had many great opportunities from pony club camp to riding in the Native pony display at Royal Windsor Horse Show. I unfortunately outgrew my pony and moved onto horses. Fast forward to now, I have owned my young thoroughbred for three years. It has been a very challenging yet rewarding time with him, I have been able to bring him further into his education since owning him and hope to be able to get out and about competing and taking part in team events in the future.
