Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
I have managed Studs for the past 30 years and run my own family Stud business for the past 10 years, due to changes in the industry over the past five years it has become very hard to compete with the large Studs and outfits as a small family stud.
During my time in the industry I have covered every aspect of Stud work, from foaling over a 1,000 mares, managing large numbers of mares, foals and yearling plus sales preparation and marketing. Also I have managed Stallions, from purchase, marketing and running the breeding shed, also working daily with the Vets in all areas and organising covers, transport, the Farrier, feed, hay, bedding, muck disposal, paddock and land maintenance. I was also responsible for reporting and entertaining all clients whether at the stud, races or sales. I prepared all budgets, cash flows and worked with the stud owners to maximise the stud business potential.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
As outlined above.
Managing Studs, Land and general maintenance, gardening. Organising and arranging Vets, Farriers, Feed, Hay, Straw and all other requirements. Foaling, handling all young stock and breeding stock, yearling and foal preparation, feeding etc.
