Experience with Horses
I have been around horses since a young age, learning the ropes at a riding school and then developing my knowledge and skill set with a share horse whilst working as a freelance groom on the weekends. I have worked with and ridden a variety of horses from leisure to competition horses throughout my career as a groom. I have a keen interest in breaking in horses and dealing with those with behaviour issues. I am passionate about keeping horses as close to their natural environment as possible and allow for natural behaviours.
Key Skills
I am a hard working, efficient and confident worker. I can work well with in a team but also individually and make decisions when needed or within stressful situations. In my current role as Head Groom I have taken on a wide set of responsibilities such as of communicating with all liveries and external contractors as well as arranging all appointments/ treatments for a yard of 20 horses, undertaking routine treatments, billing and ordering.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I most enjoy being outside and the therapeutic value of being around horses.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I would like to improve on my plaiting and clipping as i have done this for lower level competitions or welfare but not to the highest of standards.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I am dedicated to my vocation and understand that working with horses doesn’t always mean you start and finish on time due to the nature of the job. I am keen to continue developing my skills within a different sector of the industry. I pick up new routines well and am very adaptable if routines need to change due to priority.
Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
I would like to gain more experience within a different sector of this job and work within a set up that allow for horses to be managed in an environment that is closest to their own natural habitat.
• Do you need accommodation?
I would need to relocate for this role.
• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
I have a Labrador and 15.1 connie to come with me.
• Do you have any ongoing commitments?
I have to give 1 month notice
• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?
no
