Experience with Horses
I’ve been riding for 14 years and have had my own horses for 6 years. Currently I have two horses, one of which I have been eventing for the last four seasons, and the other I have been educating for 18months so he could begin his eventing career at the start of this season. For the past three years I have been working on a small livery yard 4 days a week, involving turnout of 4 horses, feeding of all plus 3 Shetland’s, poo picking, rug changing and daily checks. As well as, driving the quad, including grading of manege. I’m looking for a yard based role where I can continue to learn and develop my riding and non riding skills.
Key Skills
I am very passionate about training young horses to learn their future role. This became apparent to me after working with my own young horse. As a consequence of this I focused on developing my groundwork skills and continuing to improve my flatwork. I feel I am confident in handling a range of horses from fit competition horses to young horses in the wind.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses? I enjoy most seeing the progression in young horses, whilst watching them grow in confidence.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve? My knowledge of working in a professional yard, whilst continuing to improve my ridden and non ridden skills.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker? I’m very hardworking with a keen desire to learn and will always strive to do my best whilst remaining conscientiousness.
