Experience with Horses
I have been working with horses for the past 11 years, gaining hands-on experience alongside completing both a university degree and a diploma. I currently own one myself, whom I successfully broke in myself and am now continuing to train. I am eager to further develop my skills and knowledge within the equine industry, and I am committed to building a long-term career in this field.
Key Skills
Working alone, or with-in a team, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, record keeping.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I most enjoy the connection and trust that develops between horse and handler. Every horse has its own personality, and I find it incredibly rewarding to understand their individual needs, build a bond, and see their progress over time—whether in training, care, or general handling.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I’m always looking to expand my knowledge, particularly in areas such as advanced training techniques, equine nutrition, and rehabilitation. Gaining more experience with different disciplines and working with a wider variety of horses is something I’m keen to pursue.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I bring over a decade of hands-on experience with horses, complemented by formal education in the field. I’m passionate, hardworking, and take initiative—demonstrated by training my own horse from the ground up. My dedication, combined with a strong desire to keep learning and growing, makes me a reliable and valuable addition to any equine team.
Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
In my next role, I’m looking to deepen my practical experience and broaden my knowledge. . I’m particularly interested in young horse development, competition preparation, and furthering my understanding of training and yard management. I’d value the opportunity to work with a variety of horses and experienced professionals in a supportive, professional environment where I can contribute my existing skills, continue learning, and take on new challenges that will help me grow both personally and professionally within the industry.
• Do you need accommodation?
Yes
• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
They don’t have any special requirements, although my horse prefers not to be left alone outside. I currently have a small, well-behaved 3-year-old working Cocker Spaniel bitch who is fully house trained, as well as a 5-year-old Arabian horse (15.1hh) who I’ve been training myself.
• Do you have any ongoing commitments?
No
• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?
Yes, I currently have 4 days booked in July (18-21th July).
