Experience with Horses
I bring a high level of understanding and knowledge of the equestrian industry in Australia. Growing up with Horses and working in the industry for 17 years has taught me a lot about many disciplines. I’ve been a riding instructor for 17 years but do not have UK qualifications only my Horse Saftey Australia senior instructor, and was qualified as a RDA Level one instructor. My work has been a hybrid of disciplines, rider ability level from beginner to advanced and both riders with a disability, and able riders. Grooming two polo strings and for a team of horses for state and national events where the riding school I worked for took a group of riders, plus to an international level for myself.
Then also as a competitive rider in Show-Jumping, Dressage, Showing, Campdrafting, Pony Club, Stockmans Challenges and Para Dressage; a co-ordinator for equine events; the host of para dressage competitions; and a passionate advocate for horse riders with disabilities, I feel I have the well-rounded knowledge and experience to support a multitude of job roles.
I want an equine based job however full physical only jobs (e.g. groom/yard) are difficult due to being an above knee amputee, I am not looking for stable work or young horse riding, but something in events, yard management, horse management, social media or an assistant job etc. I am competent for my level of disability and hope people can look past the disability and to my knowledge.

Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
Horses are what make a job interesting, they help bring interest in the day
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
That my prosthetic leg runs flat before I do! ha! No, as I am coming back to the workplace, I would trust that I am a reliable worker but medical things do come up and that can be seen as a weakness to some, to me it’s an adaption.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I’d say there is a perfect fit for everybody and that gives me a go. I have many transferrable skills, including five years of experience in administration and nine years in small business, I’m empathetic, can work with a large variety of people, have good observation skills, am risk-minded but not risk-averse and can think outside the box, in an adaptive way
Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
I’d love to continue to develop my event skills and find my place in the equine industry.
• Do you need accommodation?
No but pending job and location, yes
• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
No.
• Do you have any ongoing commitments?
Yes, there are intermittent trips needed back to Australia and I am working on being a competitive para dressage rider, this can all be flexible and discussed.
