Experience with Horses

Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.

Horses is my passion and 9in the past 5 years I’ve developed in depth  skills and experience with them. In lockdown I bought a project pony which was turning a year old. And in the first couple of yours i handled him and started ground work with him. I found the ground work helped extremely for breaking him in. I broke him in myself when he was three and a half and from there we have become the perfect pair. I have worked with other horses such has excising and riding my friends horses whilst they’re away and looking after them. From mucking out, grooming and making feeds. One horse I look after is on medication so my priority is to make sure he is comfortable. I’m willing to do anything and no job is too big for me.

Key Skills

What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc

I adapt to the work that’s given to me. I enjoy working with others and working as a team. And from coming for a agriculture background working alone is second nature to me. I like my own company and it doesn’t bother me one bit. Because I have my own horse I clip him in the winter, I give him a Irish clip so I can clip. Plaiting isn’t my strongest skill I haven’t quite mastered that yet but I’m willing to learn and developed the skill. I’ve been a groom for my friends for years when they got to shows by bathing the horse, getting the kitted out for the trailer and tacking them and untacking. I don’t have a lot of experience with stallions but as you know I’m eager to be taught and trained to handle one. Riding and producing young horses is what I love. I just enjoy seeing them working out the task that’s given to them and developing into a level headed horse. I’m good at anything practical by having a farm I can work on machinery and any fencing or manual work isn’t a bother to me at all. I just enjoy being outside and working with animals.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

The most rewarding  thing about working with horses is seeing the progress they make. Horses is my quite time and the bond and connection you make with them is no other. They are a magical animals and whilst working with them no day is the same. I find working with youngsters is where i enjoy because you get them has a young animal that doesn’t know anything and you can produce a level headed mature horse.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

There’s a couple of things I would like to improve one is my plaiting skills, I would love to able to plait tidy and get my horses the best they can look. I would like to get more knowledge about stallions and how to handle them and what not to do and what to do. I just want to be the best rider and horsemanship I can be.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I think employers should consider me because I am young and willing candidate and no job is too big or too small for me. I’m willing to give anything a go. I have a lot of experiance with young horses and know how to handle them. I’ve been to plenty of shows and know what to do and how to do it well. I am not hesitant to ask for help or seek for advice with I need.  And  I believe in your company mission and I have always found it interesting on how your yard works. And I’ve produced my own horse I can bring new techniques to the table. I’ve accomplished a lot in my life and I’m only 18 and I just want to get better and better.

Requirements

• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?

I would like to gain and developed my skills in general. Especially my riding, I can ride very well but by riding different horses and getting the chance to discover the different kind of horses that’s out there. Because I young I would just like to develop my skills and by giving a chance to a young person it will keep the equine industry going.
