Experience with Horses

I have previously worked at multiple professional equestrian yards in the past. From working at these yards I have gained knowledge on rehabilitating horses, equine first aid, general yard duties, riding a variety of horses, handling different types of horses, and becoming a team leader whilst being able to work well within a team. Over the summer of 2022 I worked as an eventing pupil for 5* event rider Bruce Haskell. When working here I handled and exercised top event horses as well as dealing with liveries and day to day running of the yard.

I was based at Fox Pitt eventing and recently returned home to return to freelance work at a couple private yards based close to home, I have sole charge of these yards.

I have a 10-year-old ex-racehorse that I was given directly from the trainer straight off the track. He retired due to an injury, I successfully retrained him to event, we had a slight setback as he had colic surgery 2 years ago on Christmas Day but he’s back in full work and out competing this season. My aims with him are to climb the levels as he is showing some really exciting work.

Key Skills

I have been involved with horses my entire life and have worked with a variety of different horses, including competition horses, foals, stallions, broodmares, and ex-racehorses. I work to a very high standard and for all tasks given, I am able to complete quickly yet thoroughly. I am confident with riding lots of different types of horses and have experience with training rehabilitation horses through to competition horses. I am currently working as a freelance competition and general rider and groom. I am in sole charge at the clients yards. I am also currently down working as a rider and working pupil with William Fox-Pitt.

Requirements

I am looking for a new career to combine my love and knowledge of horses with my understanding and joys of working within a business.

In my next job, I would love the opportunity to meet new people and gain more experience. I graduated from Hartpury University last year with a higher certificate in Equine Studies. I am now looking for my next opportunity to continue learning.

I have a 10-year-old ex-racehorse with a very loving temperament that I would like to be able to bring with me so that I can continue to train and compete with him while learning new things at the same time. I also have a lovely little patterdale terrier that would like to join me on my life’s adventure .

Riding Experience

I started at pony club at the age of 5 and have been riding ever since.
I have ridden a variety of horses, including problem horses, nervous horses, green horses, and young horses.
I am able to access each horse I ride and adapt my riding to suit the horse, whether they need to be sensitively ridden or confidently ridden. I am a calm, sympathetic but confident rider.
I have competed in lots of disciplines and I have competitively show jumped up to 1.10m but I am wanting to gain more experience. I have schooled and jumped horses competing up to 5*.

Qualifications

High Certificate in Equine Studies, achieved at Hartpury University.

I received a Merit in Level 3 Equine Studies at Berkshire College of Agriculture.

I also completed my Ride Safe exam at BCA College

Currently going through the process of getting my HGV/C1 license.

Competition Details

I have competed at affiliated british eventing events and BSJA events also. I am wanting to gain more experience to compete at higher levels with my own horse and other owners horses.

I have been involved with the organizing and setting up of the horse trials held at BCA and also running a charity show. I have worked at multiple competition yards these include, Radnage House Stables, Attington Stud, Rob Waine’s Dressage yard and 5* Event rider Bruce Haskells yard.
