Experience with Horses
I have been working around horses for around 7 years where I have worked on numerous yards from riding schools to a racing yard. I worked at Aireview Equestrian Centre for a little over a year where I worked in a small team and also took charge over the team on multiple occasions. Here I became confident with all duties of daily care as well as assisting within riding lessons to ensure they run smoothly. When required I have also worked on the showing yard taking care of the show ponies, completing all daily care and exercise required as well as on the livery yard. I graduated from Askham Bryan College with a Advanced Technical Diploma in Equine Management with a grade of Distinction Merit Merit with a triple Distinction in my Competition Grooming where we were assessed on our ability to prepare a horse to travel as well as plait and groom, more information on modules will be provided upon request. During my studies I completed 160 hours of work placement at Sam England Racing where I completed all daily care of the racehorses and handled them frequently when putting on/taking off of the horse walker, weighing them and turning in/out. I was awarded my BHS Stage 1 Care & Ride and Stage 2 Care & Lunge as well as my Ride Safe award during my time at college. I had the amazing opportunity of volunteering at a vaulting yard in Sweden where myself and a few others took sole care of the horses and their exercise plans completing daily field and health checks and schooling, lunging and hacking as required.
