Experience with Horses
I started working with horses at the age of 12, by volunteering at a therapeutic ridding center for 5 years. I then worked at Idle hour stud farm for a summer working with Cleveland Bay horses. I also was an outrider for 2 years for a horse tour in Gettysburg pa. I moved to Pittsburgh pa then worked for a Arabian show barn as a groom for a year until I had my son and took time to be a mom. Then I worked at Barbery stables which is a boarding facility as a stable hand.
Key Skills
I am excellent at working with difficult horses, young horses, and studs. As long as I know where everything is and the routine of the stable I can work on my own. I am also easy going and can work with most people. I also have experience driving tractors and skid loaders and can do minor maintenance to stable and fencing.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• Horses are my life. All I have wanted to do is to be able to work with them they are my passion.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I would like to improve my clipping and show grooming skills.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I am hard working and flexible. I understand that horses are 24/7 and will take the time they need to be taken care of correctly.
Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
I loved working as an outrider with tourists. Meeting new and different people all being brought together was amazing.
• Do you need accommodation?
If sponsorship is available I would need it otherwise no. As I will be working on obtaining a work visa for the UK
• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
I have an Irish wolfhound that I would bring with me when I move to Scotland but would bot bring her to the stable yard.
• Do you have any ongoing commitments?
No other than working on being able to move to Scotland
• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?
No
