Experience with Horses
I have over 4 years of experience working professionally within the equine sector, working with equines of all sizes, age & breed. I have experience being a groom on a local stud, working with breeding top level shetlands and showing ponies, this was my first ever paid equine job. I then went on to work up to 15 heavy horses at the Dorset Heavy Horse Centre, not only working daily with these horses but also working closely with children visiting the park and giving them tours to educate them about the Heavy Horses, their history and why they were bred. Following my time here, I moved on to work at a Private All Girls Prep & Boarding School, working with girls aged 7-13 as a Stable Groom. I would assist & teach daily ‘out rides’ of up to 6 girls & their ponies, of all age groups. From lead rein first time trotters to the experienced older girls who could go galloping! Not only would I teach the girls on horseback, I would also teach these girls Horse and Pony Care, using the Pony Club Tests, teaching the girls the importance of caring from your pony in all aspects other than on board. Some of these Girls then went on to achieve their Pony Club Tests! I also have experience in Yard Management- managing a yard of 14 horses, 6 of which were under my full time care and management and 8 of which were livery’s. Currently, I am a Freelance Groom, with a number of clients in my local area. I have got the time management skills and organisation to be able to do this so successfully.

Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I enjoy building a relationship with the horses you work with and discovering their own personalities. Creating a real bond with a horse you work with is the best feeling.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I would possibly like to improve my experience with competing professionally in the equine sector. I have never been a massive competitor myself, I am usually in the side lines, so would love to have that opportunity to widen my experience in that way.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I think I am different to other job seekers because I truly love my job. Anyone can muck out a stable, and lead a horse to a field, but I put a lot of love and care into everything I do in my day to day work. Every single horses I have worked with I have cared for as my own, and I have been told by previous employers, this comes across very clearly.
Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
I would love to work with children again, I have always loved the idea of being a family groom. Working closely with a family and their children, and being a part of their childhood with their ponies – I would just love to give them the most fun and get the most out of every single second!
• Do you need accommodation?
It is not needed, however would be massively preferred!
• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
I have one small well behaved dog (& a partner!)
• Do you have any ongoing commitments?
No I don’t have any ongoing commitments
• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?
No
