Yard Assistant/ Stable Hand  

Barrochan Farm – Houston  

October 2024 to current  

Since working at Barrochan I have gained valuable work ethic and the importance of working closely to the horses. I work a weekend job from 8am –5pm as a sole caretaker to 15 full livery horses, this has helped me to gain the necessary time management and self-driven skills to be able to take initiative to overcome when faced with challenges. I find my job extremely rewarding and motivating of what I want to achieve for my future goals and aspirations  

FREC 3 First Responder/Aider  

AMVALE Scotland  

April 2024 to current 

Since working with Amvale Scotland as a self-employed first responder, not only have I gained individual career specific qualifications and skills, but I have also gained Insite into looking at the bigger picture as well as the intricate details. I have gained on my social and cognitive development by talking to patients however also being faced with time sensitive, stress driven situations that rely on me being able to focus and think on my feet. This job allows me to display the range of scope that I am willing to take on and adapt to new challenges and learn quickly to overcome any challenges that I may be faced with. 

Work Placement

As part of my HNC college course, I completed my volunteering work placement at Rockrose Equestrian Centre as a groom/Stable hand gaining professional experience working one on one with a 3* eventer, as well as gaining industry valuable skills, such as;

Volunteer 

meadow park equestrian centre – Houston 

October 2019 to March 2021 

I had volunteered at meadow park equestrian centre to learn some new skills, knowledge, and experience around what it takes to run a business and look after the horses. I learned responsibility and commitment by doing this and developed a good understanding of business awareness and decision-making skills in the process of my volunteering at meadow park equestrian centre. This has allowed me to become more confident in my decisions as a person, while becoming more resilient.

the freedom and reliability of horses knowing that you can always have them there, as well as just not having to work indoors in an office is plus.

my over all knowledge of running a business in this industry especially the eventing/competition side of the industry

i am an eager and fast learner that has the academic and practical baseline to be put up for most work as well as this i have my FREC 3 first responder qualification and my BHS stage one complete horsemanship and ride safe.

i would like to gain groomsmen/women based knowledge, as well as being able to see what it’s like to run a successful (possibly eventing) equine industry business, and if possible gain my coaching qualifications
