Experience with Horses

I’ve been riding since I was 8 however this was on and off due to parents traveling. When I was a little older I’d stay for full days helping at my yard with things like mucking out , feeding, leading lessons ponies, grooming etc. I got my first horse in 2021 at 15 which helped me gain lots of practical knowledge in equine care and management. In 2022, I began studying Equine Business Management at Hartpury College, where I gained a comprehensive understanding of the equine industry, both practically and from a business perspective. Having my horse in livery there helped me gain lots of valuable skills such as prep for competition ( plaiting , pulling , etc) As well as prep for transport (Boots/Bandages , tail wraps, etc) , basics of saddle fitting , fitting other pieces of tack and more. Throughout my time at Hartpury, I also accumulated hands-on experience in various equine settings, including working on the main yard, where I assisted with daily routines such as mucking out, grooming, feeding, and general horse management. Additionally, I worked equine events, ensuring smooth operation for competitors and judges. I also had the opportunity to contribute at the rehabilitation center, gaining valuable knowledge of equine recovery and rehabilitation practices. This varied experience has given me a well-rounded skill set in horse care, event support, and rehabilitation, which I hope to expand and contribute with on your yard.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• I enjoy every aspect of working with the horses, from jobs like mucking out to riding and rehabbing (water treadmills, stretching ) . I work well alone and can get things done to best standard in time.

• I do however need to improve on working as a team, It’s something that I can do but much rather prefer doing everyday jobs alone as I find it to be quicker.

•Employers should consider me for an equine role because of my hands-on experience, formal education, and passion for the industry. I’ve been involved with horses since a young age, giving me a good practical understanding of horse care and management. Owning my first horse in 2021, along with my studies in Equine Business Management at Hartpury College, has equipped me with both the practical and business knowledge needed to thrive in this field. I bring a well-rounded skill set, having worked in various equine settings—main yards, event coordination, and a rehabilitation center—giving me versatility in handling a wide range of tasks, from horse care to event logistics. I’m also highly organized, proactive, and able to work well under pressure, ensuring that horses’ needs are met while maintaining efficient operations.

Requirements

• In my next job, I would like to further develop my skills in equine management and care, particularly in areas such as training horses and dealing with more complex behavioral problems. I would also love the opportunity to learn anything and everything from experienced professionals in this industry.

• Do you need accommodation?

Yes

• I would love to bring my dog with me, she’s an 11 year old shihtzu, she’s sadly got heart disease and just prefers to sit inside and sleep however she can be left with my parents.

• Do you have any ongoing commitments?

No

• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?

No

In future disciplines I have selected most of them as I’d love to work and learn in any of them.
