Experience with Horses
I have been around and owned my own horse for 35 years, having competed locally as a hobby in dressage, showing and some jumping with my TB x Welsh which I broke and brought on myself. He remained with me for 26 years and was a sole mate and fabulous horse to own.
I started out my career with horses working as a groom at a professional showjumping yard in Somerset and became Head Groom for 4 years.
I then moved on into the veterinary world and qualified as a Veterinary Nurse, but continued to ride and compete my own horse as a hobby.
Key Skills
Happy to work alone or within a team, having been Head Groom in the past. Able to turn out for shows, plaiting etc. Riding to a good level, lungeing, long reining, all yard duties required. I am also a qualified animal behaviourist and completed the Monty Roberts course via the Kelly Marks academy so able to work with sensitive or nervous horses in a calm and confident manner.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
Caring for and being around horses since a very early age. I love to see alternative ways of working with horses and studying natural behaviours to provide a sensitive option for troubled/misunderstood horses.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
Having a qualification in animal behaviour this gives me the tools to be able to understand how and why horses behave the way they do and adjust training techniques and handling with patience and care. Also able to care as a veterinary professional for any health problems with horses in my care.
