Experience with horses
I grew up around horses and have owned a few since a young age. I can take care of all their basic needs and and handle any minor health issues that do not critically need veterinary intervention. Although I haven’t personally worked with competition or show horses, I did have a stallion and worked with him as well as one of his foals. Even though I’ve never participated in shows and didn’t specialize in a specific riding style, I’ve went on trail rides on the farm I grew up on, so I have experience with keeping horses calm around strange animals and traversing rough terrain.
Key Skills
I am quick to warm up to horses I am not initially familiar with and adapt according to their temperament and personality. I’m very thorough when checking the horses and detecting when something is wrong and what it is, and handling the situation accordingly. I am a very peaceful person and good at keeping horses calm when they get upset or agitated. I’m a quick learner and very observant as to how more experienced equestrians do things.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
Getting to know their personalities and what makes them unique.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I would like to improve my riding overall, as well as well as learning smaller details like plaiting or wrapping that I’ve never had use for before. I am always open to learning more and improving everything I already know.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I am hard working and although I still have a lot to learn, I am motivated and willing to do what it takes. Working with horses would not be ‘just another job’ for me as it has been my dream since I was a little girl, and I will throw everything I have into making it work.
Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
As much experience, in as many aspects of the equine industry, as possible. Anything to do with breeding as I want to specialize in this field.
• Do you need accommodation?
Yes, I need accommodation.
• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
No animals.
• Do you have any ongoing commitments?
I have a one year old daughter and I aim to bring her with me wherever I find work as I am raising her by myself. Where I leave her during work hours would depend on my employment and the region in which we find ourselves.
• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?
No
