Experience with Horses

A decade post my first riding lesson, I am now an equestrian coach holding a Bachelor of Science Degree with Honours in Equestrian Sports Coaching.
I have brought on a 3-year-old *feral* Arabian and have been through all the highs and lows of training, through bucking, rearing, kicking biting… producing a harmonious bond with a willing, (excuse the anthropomorphising) happy horse.
I have experience in a range of disciplines, along with coaching them, including Vaulting, of which is my current sport and passion, however my coaching focus is mainly on flat and jumping, whilst gaining great joy in bringing on young horses with their owners.
I have recently spent a few months in Scotland coaching and gaining experience to further my education within estate grounds and a 4* hotel.

Additionally, I also have experience with chickens, ducks, dogs, and donkeys. I have been trusted with house sitting several times, including the care of their animals.

Due to my diversity, I have a wide experience with a range of horses, from welsh ponies and Shetlands, to Clydesdales and giant warmbloods.

Key Skills

I pride myself in my adaptability, able to communicate at all levels, and work either individually and as part of a team.

Horse psychology is a particular interest of mine, and combined with my empathetic and understanding nature, the horses and their welfare come first, assisting in the ethical and highest standard of training and rehabilitation.

I also pride my confidence. I am happy to handle any horse, fairly and patiently. This includes ridden and on the ground.

Attention to detail. I ensure all my tasks are completed to a high standard, including the grooming and husbandry of horses.

A believe a positive attitude plays a vital part in a role, combined with the ability to laugh and smile regularly, which I am lucky comes to me naturally and I am always eager and willing to work hard!

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

Every day is different with horses. Their individual personalities bring me joy to connect with, and ensuring their wellbeing (mental and physical) is a privilege to me for these majestic beings.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I would like to gain more experience within breeding and working with foals, observing their behaviour and learning about their development, both mentally and physically.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

Employers should consider me above other job seekers because of my diverse range of skills and my willingness to learn more. I will also put all my effort into whichever task I am given, assuring the employer that they will be undertaken to the highest standard. The combination of my experience in silver service wedding venues and yard duties I have performed in winter storms act as evidence of my adaptability.

Requirements

• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?

Further experience, equestrian and non-equestrian, and development of my current skills.

• Do you need accommodation?

Outside of Kent, accommodation will be required.

• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?

No

• Do you have any ongoing commitments?

No

• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?
