Experience with horses
My experience with horses began at the age of 5, and by 10 I was volunteering at my local riding school. By the age of 16 I had been pushed to start teaching and thoroughly enjoyed it, I then continued to work at my local riding school until I left home to attend Hartpury University. At this university I pursued an equine degree, BSc (Hons) Equine Science, alongside this I have had the pleasure of working with a variety of privately owned horses whilst also delving into the intricacies of the horse whilst attending university. I have had experience as a groom working with stallions, ex racers, and your normal average pony
Key Skills
My confidence excels when I am around horses, therefore I do have the ability to work solely by myself and feel confident with the work I’m doing, however I do also enjoy working within a team.
I pride myself off of my attention to detail when doing yard jobs, however I also pay a lot of attention to condition and turn out and the overall welfare of the horse.
My strong points would be handling horses, however my riding is where I feel most confident .
Strengths and Weaknesses
• I adore working with horses due to the constant learning process. You never stop learning about horses no matter how long you have worked with them. Every day is a different day for new challenges and success.
• I would like to have the opportunity to improve my plaiting and clipping skills.
• Other employers should consider me as I don’t view working with horses as just a job, I view it as a lifestyle that I would 100% love to live for the rest of my time.
