Experience with Horses
I have extensive experience working with a wide range of equines, including orphaned and injured foals, broodmares with post-delivery injuries, and stallions. Additionally, I have retrained and sold off-the-track Thoroughbreds (OTTBs), utilizing a deep understanding of their unique needs and challenges.
Throughout my career, I have successfully treated a variety of injuries and have developed a strong ability to care for and rehabilitate horses. I am skilled at turning out horses to a high standard and have hands-on experience in multiple disciplines, including showjumping, showing, and dressage at the Preliminary level.
My experience also includes riding green and young horses, as well as backing horses and working with those requiring a more experienced rider or facing behavioural challenges. I have participated in and assisted with various competitive disciplines, such as show jumping, cross-country, and dressage, and have competed at numerous shows of different formats.
I have worked at two different competitive yards, where I was responsible for preparing horses to a show standard, supporting riders at events, and coordinating the show schedules for each rider to ensure seamless participation. Additionally, I have helped organize shows, contributing to the smooth running of events.
Key Skills
I am highly capable of working both independently and as part of a team, consistently delivering results in both environments. I take pride in my ability to turn out horses to a high showing standard, demonstrating attention to detail and a thorough understanding of presentation.
With extensive experience in handling and riding stallions, as well as working with young horses, I possess a deep knowledge of their unique requirements and behavioural traits. In addition to my equine expertise, I bring strong non-equine skills, including proficiency in computer applications, organization, and management. I am also experienced in creating and distributing advertisements, contributing to effective communication and marketing strategies.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
What I enjoy most about working with horses is the deep connection you can form with them. Each horse has its own unique personality, and I find it incredibly rewarding to build trust and communicate with them, whether you’re working through challenges or celebrating progress. There’s something deeply fulfilling about helping a horse recover from an injury or retrain for a new purpose and watching them thrive. The opportunity to continue learning from them and adapting to their individual needs is something I find both exciting and humbling.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I am eager to continue enhancing my riding skills across various disciplines, as well as expanding my overall knowledge of equine care and management. I recognize that there is always more to learn, and I am committed to ongoing personal and professional development to ensure I provide the highest level of expertise in all aspects of horse care and training.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
Employers should consider me for my broad and diverse experience within the equine industry. I bring a strong combination of practical skills, from handling and training young horses and stallions to rehabilitating injured or orphaned foals. My experience spans across various disciplines, including show jumping and dressage, ensuring I am versatile and adaptable to different roles and environments.
In addition to my equine expertise, I possess strong organizational, management, and communication skills, which allow me to effectively coordinate tasks, manage schedules, and assist in event organization. I am highly motivated, committed to continuous learning, and have a proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
I am passionate about providing the best possible care and training to horses, and I believe my hands-on experience, dedication, and enthusiasm would make me a valuable asset to any equine-focused team.
