Experience with Horses

I’ve been working with horses for the past 17 years, competing in show jumping, eventing, reining, cow cutting, and liberty horsemanship. Four years ago, I started breaking in horses and have since been running my own training business, working with both horses and riders.

My experience goes beyond competitions as I’ve spent years developing young horses, from groundwork to starting them under saddle, and I’ve worked extensively with off-the-track thoroughbreds, helping them transition into new careers. I’ve also trained problem horses, addressing behavioral challenges and building trust through natural horsemanship techniques.

Beyond traditional training, I’ve had the opportunity to apply my horsemanship in unique environments worldwide. I undertook an expedition on horseback through Mongolia, studying biology and archaeology while training scientists to ride in extreme conditions. I also trained and guided clientele at a horseback safari in Africa, further honing my ability to manage diverse horses and riders in unpredictable settings. Along the way, I’ve worked as a track rider, trained a variety of breeds for different disciplines, and both attended and run clinics focused on improving horse and rider connections. My passion has always been about understanding each horse as an individual and helping them reach their full potential.

Key Skills

With experience across multiple disciplines, I have developed a diverse skill set in horse training and management. As a coach, I specialize in assessing both horse and rider needs, providing clear communication, and fostering a positive learning environment. My background in track work has also strengthened my ability to handle fit, high-energy horses while working efficiently under pressure in a team setting. Above all, my focus is on developing well-rounded, willing horses that excel in their disciplines while building a strong partnership with their riders.

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • What I love most about horses is to be able to learn from each individual, adapting my methods to grow and refine my skills. At its core though, i love that horses offer the ability to form a partnership where communication and trust create an incredible connection.
  • A key area for development is refining expertise in a specific discipline to achieve a higher level of mastery and specialization.
  • I stand out from other job seekers because I offer a rare combination of experience that has developed my adaptability and taught me to tailor my methods to each horse and situation. This partnered with strong leadership, teamwork, and communication skills, I bring a well-rounded and professional approach to horse training and management.

Requirements

• In my future career paths I seek to grow and develop my life experience and skills. Discovering that which allows me to assist others.

• I will be needing accomodation as my current address is in Queensland, Australia.

• No particular special requirements.

• No ongoing commitments.

• No holidays booked thus far.
