Experience with Horses
A lifelong equestrian, I have 12+ years of professional hunter/jumper (mostly jumper) grooming experience, including through FEI 5*. I have a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and am a firm believer that no one is ever too good to clean a stall. I have barn manager experience but prefer to be as hand-on with the horses as possible.
Key Skills
- Clipping, braiding, and turning out to a high standard
- Competent flat rider
- Lunging/ground work
- IM/IV medications
- Wrapping and bandaging
- Driving trailer and hauling horses
- Operating machinery (tractor, arena drag, bushhog)
- Comfortable handling stallions, young horses, fit competition horses, and “quirky” horses
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
The little wins. The horse that didn’t like trailering loading calmly, the fidgety one finally relaxing enough to enjoy a good curry, a nice topline developing on the scrawny young horse.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
My riding skills. You’re never done learning and it would be a huge bonus if someone could give me some help, especially over jumps.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I work hard, I care, and I do right by the horses.
Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
I want to work with good people who are great to their horses. A strong preference given to a job with some saddle time, especially if there’s an opportunity for coaching as time allows.
• Do you need accommodation?
Yes
• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
No pets or horses
• Do you have any ongoing commitments?
I work part-time in the evenings for an equine supplement company, so I do need access to wifi, but other than that it doesn’t impact daily barn time.
• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?
